No. 12 Bears Second at John Jackson Team Race

WASHINGTON, D.C.--Coed Sailing finished second overall at The John Jackson Memorial Team Race hosted by Georgetown University. Winds were strong and conditions were trying both days with sub-freezing temperatures- especially Saturday where wind gusts reached heights of 25 knots. Skippers Nikole Barnes, Mack Fox and Austin Lettengarver powered through the breeze along with Liam Ballantine, August Sturm and Miyako Miller, finishing with a record of three wins and 2 losses, including an extremely close loss to Georgetown University.

Sunday, while still cold, featured much more manageable conditions. The Bears showed composure, teamwork and skill throughout the day, sailing towards a 4-1 record and a 7-3 record overall, including a 2-1 record in the Final-four. Anna Morin, Sarah Smith and Miyako Miller served as crews throughout the day on Sunday.

The Bears will take a weekend off from team racing to focus on other disciplines but will be back in action for their home interconference team race, the Friis Trophy, on April 25-26.
