Why did you choose to come to the Coast Guard Academy?: I chose to come to the Coast Guard Academy because I was attracted to its high level of purpose and professionalism as well as the rewarding opportunities presented both before and after graduation.
How long have you been sailing? How did you start sailing?: I have been sailing for 5 years and I first became interested in the sport when I attended a windsurfing camp when I was 13.
What is your favorite thing about the sailing team at Coast Guard?: My favorite thing about the sailing team at Coast Guard is the level of expertise and competitiveness that is presented while still maintaining a fun and enjoyable atmosphere.
What other activities/positions/clubs are you involved with on campus?: I am involved with the Catholic Club and Aviation Club
What is the sailing acheivement that you are most proud of?: The sailing achievement that I am most proud of is placing 8th in the RS:X windsurfing North American Championship.
What are your future sailing plans and career goals after graduation?: My future sailing plans after graduation involve continuing to compete in the RS:X windsurfing class and help prepare youth sailing for the collegiate level. My career goals are working in the fleet as a deck watch officer before applying to flight school.
Tell us something that your teammates would be surprised to know about you.: The first time I sailed was when I was 13 and traveled from Clearwater, FL to Charleston South Carolina with my grandparents aboard a 38' Bristol sailboat. The trip took one month and being home schooled I was able to work on my studies while underway.
