  • Fanning, Turley, Barnes, Rohde, and Morin Earn All-America Honors

    SAN DIEGO, CALIF. (June 30, 2016) – The Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) recently announced the 2015-16 All-America Team. Coast Guard had an astonishing five members named to the team: Avery Fanning, Robert Turley, Nikole Barnes, Dana Rohde, and Anna Morin. The names of the winners will be added to the ICSA Hall of Fame display located in the Robert Crown Center at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

  • Bears Second at Gill Coed National Championship

    SAN DIEGO, CALIF. (June 3, 2016) – Today was the last day of the Gill Coed Dinghy National Championship, co-hosted by San Diego Yacht Club and the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference. This is the last of three high caliber spring college sailing national championships that were run on North San Diego Bay off of the B Street Pier. After four days of intense competition Coast Guard finished second for the second year in a row, winning the Oxford Trophy.

    SAN DIEGO, CALIF. (June 2, 2016) – The Gill Coed Dinghy National Championship continued today co-hosted by San Diego Yacht Club and the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference. The teams are sailing on North San Diego Bay off of the B Street Pier. The top eighteen collegiate teams in the nation advanced from the previous two days of racing in the semifinals to make it to the finals event, which began today.

(June 1, 2016) – Today was the second and final day of the semifinals for the Gill Coed National Championship, co-hosted by San Diego Yacht Club and the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference. The top 36 college sailing teams in the nation have been sailing on North San Diego Bay by the Port of San Diego, for 18 spots in the championship finals, which begin tomorrow, Thursday, June 2. The 36 teams are divided into two fleets of 18 teams, Eastern and Western semifinal groups, the top nine from each fleet will make up the 18 teams who compete in the finals.

(May 31, 2016) – Today was the first day of the Gill Coed National Championship Semifinals, co-hosted by San Diego Yacht Club and the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference. The top 36 collegiate sailing teams in the nation reported to the regatta venue at the Port of San Diego to compete for 18 spots in the championship finals, which will begin on Thursday, June 2.

The Quantum Women?s Sailor of the Year was announced during an awards presentation at the San Diego Port Pier after racing at the Sperry Women?s National Championship. This is awarded annually to an individual who has performed at the highest level of competition in district and national championships. The ICSA All-America committee evaluates with great detail all of the finalists? results and calculates the winner.

    SAN DIEGO, Calif.--The Coast Guard Academy Women's Sailing Team won the 2016 Sperry Women's National Championship for the Geral C. Miller Trophy in dominating fashion, finishing 40 points ahead of second place Brown University. This is the Bear's first national title in program history.

(May 26, 2016) – The Sperry Women’s National Championship continued today on North San Diego Bay, co-hosted by San Diego Yacht Club and the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference. Eighteen collegiate teams advanced from the previous two days of competition in the semifinals to make it to the finals racing. The teams are vying for the national title and the Gerald C. Miller Trophy.

This will be the Bear’s third appearance in as many years at the season’s culminating event.

    NEW HAVEN, Conn.—The Coast Guard Academy Women’s Sailing Team won the 2016 Women’s New England Championship for the Jerry Reed Trophy for the first time in program history. The Bears clinched a conference title in impressive fashion, winning both A-Division and B-Division. With the win, they will advance to the 2016 Women’s National Championship Semi-Finals in San Diego, CA on May 24.

    NEW LONDON, Conn.—Coast Guard sailed their best event of the season, but narrowly missed a qualifying position at the New England Team Race Championship for the Fowle Trophy. The team finished the event with 5 wins and 6 losses, tying four other teams for sixth place and ultimately ending in ninth after the tiebreaker was applied.

    NEW LONDON, Conn.—Coast Guard will host the 2016 New England Team Race Championship for the Leonard M. Fowle Trophy at Jacobs Rock Sailing and Seamanship Center on April 9-10. The event, which will feature the top twelve teams from New England going head to head in a round robin format, will serve as the qualifier for the Team Race National Championship.

    NORFOLK, Va.—The coed sailing team will enter the off-season as champions after winning the Atlantic Coast Championship for the first time in program history. The Bears came from behind in dramatic fashion to pass local rivals Yale University in the final two races of the regatta.

    NEW LONDON, Conn.--The fifth ranked sailing team finished fifth at the Hap Moore Trophy Team Race with a record of ten wins and six losses. At the Singlehanded National Championship, Dana Rohde finished eighth.

    New Haven, CT--The women's sailing team added another win to their record this past weekend, taking the Yale Women's Interconference in dominating fashion. The top ranked Bears won the event by a staggering 43 points over the second place team.
