Why did you choose to come to the Coast Guard Academy? I always wanted to make a difference in other peoples' lives and help out the environment, and Coast Guard had the best options out of any other school after graduation. Also, I wanted to become a better person - this was exactly the challenge I needed to make that jump.

How long have you been sailing?  How did you start sailing?  I started sailing when I was ten.  First off just during the summers, then I really got into it and branched out and even made my own laser racing team where we even traveled to some international regattas.

What is your favorite thing about the sailing team at Coast Guard?  My favorite thing about the team is that we are literally a family. We are always there for each other for just about anything, not only sailing. Also on the water we push each other to become better sailors and get the results that we want. Having been on many teams, not only for sailing but ice hockey too, I have never been on a team this special.

What other activities/positions/clubs are you involved with on campus?  Just sailing.

What is the sailing achievement that you are most proud of?  I think the sailing achievement that I am most proud of would have to be the fact that I came from pretty much sailing without any coaching to reach the upper level of Laser Sailing. Results-wise I think 10th at CORK out of 360 something boats was awesome as well as getting 14th in Nationals and being able to travel to Worlds and Europeans.

What are your future sailing plans and career goals after graduation?  I would like to get back to the Laser sailing circuit and maybe go international. I'd also like to try some high performance boats like the moth, but I'd like to get back to singlehanded sailing.

Tell us something that your teammates would be surprised to know about you.  I can whistle through my teeth?
