Coast Guard continues to build on its past success in the Mid Atlantic Rifle Conference while it faces tough outside competition against DI schools such as West Virginia, Nebraska, Texas Christian, and sister academies Air Force, Army, and Navy.
Last season, the Bears swept the MAC in both team and individual categories, broke the team four person team smallbore record twice, tied the air rifle record, set a new five person team record, established a new aggregate record, and tied school individual records in both prone and standing.
The heart of that team returns with sights set on moving team and individual records higher. Captain and senior Marshall Grant and sophomores Hunter Blankenship, Anthony Contreras, Seth Strayer, Aiden Uvanni, and Grayson Wheeler will be joined by recruited athletes Bryce Sturtz and Dalton Stoves. Filling out the roster will be walk-ons who have expressed an interest during the Swab Summer are Turran 'TJ" Johnson, Matthew Kim, and Cody Myers will be joined by sophomore Zara Burns.
Most of the first part of the season will be on the road as the South Range will be undergoing a ventilation upgrade during October and November. While this will put a crimp on hosting home events and training, the range will be available for air gun and it is expected that the interruption will not hamper progress.
