NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Bears held on to its undefeated conference record over the first weekend of the annual Admiral's Cup Tournament held in the Chase Hall range complex.
The John Jay Bloodhounds handed the Bears their first conference setback of the season with a 19 point win in the air rifle phase of the match, 2277 to 2258. High scorer in air rifle was John Jay's All-conference Lily Graham who posted a 585. Coast Guard was led by senior Nick Paisker's 574, followed by sophomore Alexandria Harrington's 569. The Bears were supported by fellow sophomores Randall Ford, 561 and Jake Dupree, 554. In third place air was Canisius followed by Penn State.
Coast Guard turned the tables by shooting a season-best 2223 to John Jay's 2164 in smallbore. Harrington was the high scorer for the Bears, shooting a personal best 566. Paisker and Ford both carded 553's while Lorence had a 551 in the winning effort. Dupree joined Harrington in the personal best category. Penn State, Canisius, and Yale finished third, fourth, and fifth respectively.
The aggregate of both air and smallbore saw Coast Guard, with a season high 4481, ahead of John Jay's 4441, Penn State's 4052, Canisius' 3863, and Yale's 1960.
Next week at home, Coast Guard now 6-5 on the season, puts its perfect conference record on the line against SUNY Maritime and Wentworth Institute of Technology on Nov. 19th.
