He is a product of the nation’s most dominant junior pistol club, Bridge Junior Shooting Club. He was a member of the US Team at the Inaugural Junior World Cup in Germany, the 51st World Championship in Granada, Spain, and in the Czech Republic At Shooting Hopes Competition. Placed in top three in air pistol and is National Champion in Junior Sport Pistol at the Junior Olympic Pistol Championship at Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was First Team All-American in Open Standard Pistol and Honorable Mention in Open Free Pistol. National Champion in Men’s Sport Pistol, was awarded the Class of 2009 Writing Award.
Kim won three National Collegiate Championships, Men’s Air, Open Air, and then cumulated his shooting year by winning the Collegiate National All-Around Championship at Fort Benning, GA. This is the first time a Coast Guard Academy Cadet has won the All-Around Pistol Championship. He was a member of the National Championship winning Standard Pistol Team. He furthered his great year by earning 2nd Team All-American honors in Air Pistol and Free Pistol, and Honorable Mention All-American in Standard Pistol.
