NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Bears won by a landslide over the Yale Pistol Team in Air Pistol (2144 to 2032) and Standard Pistol (2029 to 1790). Over the two match mixed-team competition, the Bears fired a 4173, while the Yale Elis' fired a 3822.
Senior Brian Hills led the Bears with a combined score of 1066, firing a 541 Air Pistol, and 525 Standard Pistol. Hills led the team in Standard Pistol with a 525, while freshman Emily Burlison led the Bears with a personal best 546. Hills fired a 541 in Air Pistol to fire the second best score for the Bears, while senior Jacob Sibilski fired a 522 to shoot the second best Standard Pistol score.
Hills, sophomore Caleb Metroka, Sibilski, and Burlison were members of Coast Guard's five-man team in all disciplines. senior co-captain Laura Carts was a member of the five-man team in Air Pistol and junior Corrin Nolin fired on the Standard Pistol team.
The Bears end their regular season winning five contests and losing six. They will travel to West Point to compete in the Pistol Sectional to qualify for the Collegiate National Pistol Championships this weekend.
The Collegiate National Championships will be held at Fort Benning, Ga, March 9-13.
