BOSTON, Mass. – The Coast Guard men's cross country team ran to a third place finish at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship Sunday afternoon.
The Bears scored 85 points squeaking by fourth place Babson who had 89 points. For the 20th straight season MIT won with 18 points followed by WPI with 71.
Coast Guard ran as a pack as their top five were only 15 seconds apart. Sophomore Andre Gallant was the Bears top runner crossing the line in 26:44 (19th place) followed by junior Alex Kearney (26:54, 21st place), senior Christian Fields (26:55, 22nd place), junior Colton Atkinson (26:58, 23rd place) and sophomore Jacob Panning (26:59, 24th place).
Rounding out the top seven for Coast Guard was freshman Matthew Doyle (27:21, 34th place) and junior Ryan Brumm (27:47, 40th place).
Coast Guard is back in action on Saturday, November 11th when they take part in the NCAA Division III New England Championship.
