Bears Compete at Conn. College Invite

WATERFORD, Conn. - Coast Guard ran to a 13th place finish at the Connecticut College Cross Country Invitational at Harkness Memorial State Park.

The overall winner was Claremont Mudd-Scripps with 79 points followed Middlebury with 84 points.

The top finisher for Coast Guard was senior Zachary Velasquez who crossed the line in 26:19.6 for 51st place.

Behind Velasquez was senior James Rimmele (27:04.7) and junior Timoth O'Loughlin (27:11.6) for 90th and 67th place respectively.

Freshman Kyle Hansen ran to a 123rd place finish in 27:39.6 while junior Christian Fields (28:08.7) finished in 138th place.

Rounding out the top seven for the Bears was freshman Andrew Segalla (139th, 28:12.3) followed by senior William Klien(143rd, 28:19.0).

Coast Guard is back in action Saturday, October 29th when they start postseason competition with the NEWMAC championship. The meet will be hosted by Smith.
