Ezzo Leads Men's XC to 4th Place Finish at NEWMAC Championships

NORTHAMPTON, MASS. – Junior Gary Ezzo earned NEWMAC All-Conference honors with his third place finish at the NEWMAC Championships hosted by Smith College this afternoon, leading the Bears to a fourth place team finish. Ezzo finished the 8k course in 25:54, placing him in the top-ten for his sixth consecutive race.

The Bears had three other runners finish in the top 30 out of a field of 94 total runners. Junior Ryan O'Neal finished second for Coast Guard and 22nd overall with a time of 27:07. Sophomores Joe O'Connell and James Martin also came in the top 30 with times of 27:31 and 27:43, respectively.

Sophomore Jon Lash also had a strong performance, coming in at 27:43, good enough for 32nd overall.

MIT won their fifteenth consecutive NEWMAC Championship, placing nine runners in the top 15. Springfield's Anthony Salvucci was the first-place finisher, coming in at 25:36.

Next weekend Coast Guard will travel to Williams College for the ECAC Championships.
