NEW LONDON, Conn.--(11/4/11)--The United States Coast Guard Academy had four cadet-athletes named to the 2011 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Cross Country All-Academic team.
Seniors Myles McCarthy, a Mechanical Engineering major, Devin Quinn, a Civil Engineering major, and Mark Zanowicz, a Marine and Environmental Sciences major along with junior Austin Fullmer, also a Marine and Environmental Sciences major were honored honored from Coast Guard.
Quinn and Fullmer were named to the team for the second straight season while McCarthy and Zanowicz earned All-Academic honors for the first time in their careers.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2010 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at his or her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
The NEWMAC consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
