Bears Open Outdoor Season at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, M.D.-- Coast Guard men's track and field opened the outdoor season with a sixth place finish at the Navy Spring Meet on Saturday.

Sophomore Josiah Davis finished third overall with a personal best in the 800m at 1:53.58. Senior Sydney Johnson also competed in the 800m with an eighth place finish with a time of 1:58.04.

Freshman James Duren finished in seventh place in the 400m at 49.80 for Coast Guard Academy top-10 finish.

In the 5000m, junior Jacob McGlumphy finished sixth overall in 15:45.21 and sophomore Joseph Roth finished in the eighth spot at 16:06.22.

The 4x400 team of Duren, Matt Kerst, Miguel Moroles, and Geoffrey Delorie had a fourth place finish at 3:25.34.

Freshman Adam Jibril-Barnes ran 15.98 in the 110 hurdles to become fifth all-time at Coast Guard.

In his first ever collegiate track meet, freshman Javon Wingate finished in third place in the long jump at 21'11.5" (6.69m).

Junior Ben Zarlengo had a fourth place finish in the discus and hammer throw. He became third all-time at Coast Guard in the discus with 152'5" (46.46m) and had a 169'1" (51.55m) in the hammer throw.

The Bears are back in action on the road on Wednesday, April 3 at Merchant Marine.
