Bears 4x400 Ready for National Championship Debut

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Coast Guard men's track and field 4x400 team is set for the 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor track and field championship on March 10-11, which will be held at North Central College in Naperville, Ill. 

The 4x400 team of sophomores Nicholas Frystak and Jacob Pawlina and juniors Luke Rehfuss and Raeford Penny qualified in their final meet of the season. The team ran their qualifying time this past weekend at the Tufts Last Chance meet beating out WPI for the final spot by .04 seconds.

The team will run in preliminary heats on Friday, March 10th, at 5:00. If they make the finals they will run the next day at 4:35.

For each men's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 15 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each woman's individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 17 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
