MEDFORD, Mass.-Senior Jordan Lee broke a school record on his way to winning the 600 meter run to pace four Coast Guard athletes top three finishes at the 2014 Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday.
Lee won the 600 meter event with a time of 1:21.98 to win by almost a full second. Senior Adam Scalesse placed second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.30 seconds after posting the top time in qualifying of 8.25 seconds.
The Bears other podium finishes came in the field events as seniors Ben Wolhaupter and Thomas Bondurant each placed third in the pole vault and weight throw, respectively. Wolhaupter posted a best height of 14 feet, 11 inches in the pole vault while Bondurant's best throw in the weight toss was 56 feet, 3.75 inches. Bondurant now has the 23rd best throw in Division III in the weight throw after his performance today.
Wolhaupter soared but was not the only impressive finisher in the pole vault as Kaci Rex placed fifth with a top jump of 13 feet, 7.25 inches.
Junior Ryan Hub was 10th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:01.24 while the Coast Guard 4x800 team took ninth in a time of 8:26.12.
Coast Guard returns to action on Friday, February 21st when they compete at the Division III New England Championships at Boston University.
