Bears Place 5th at NEWMAC

NORTHAMPTON, MASS.--(4/28/12)--Senior Kevin O'Brien earned All-conference honors with a second place finish in the 10,000 meters posting a time of 32:17.98 as Coast Guard placed fifth at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship at Smith College.

Will Baker also placed second with a throw of 44.32 meters in the discus to earn All-conference honors for the Bears.

Jordan Lee was fourth in the 800 meters (1:57.28), Joe Hill was sixth in the 5,000 meters (15:47.99), John-Anthony Ceruti was fourth in the 400 hurdles (59.70) and sixth in the 110 hurdles (16.40).

Stephen Horvath placed fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:42.31) while the Bears 4x400 relay team of Kelcey Smith, Lee, Joe Kelly and Ben Hannon took third with a time of 3:27.41.

MIT won with 267 points while Coast Guard finished with 81 points, one point behind fourth place Wheaton.
