Ayotte Qualifies for NE Championship

SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(1/21/12)--Bryan Ayotte placed sixth in the shot put and qualified for the Division III New England Championship at the nine-team Springfield Invitational.

Ayotte recorded a throw of 44 feet, five inches. Ben Wolhaupter was sixth in the pole vault with a jump of 13 feet, 1.5 inches.

Joe Kelly was seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 53.27 while Adam Scalesse, who only ran in the preliminaries of the 60 meter hurdles, due to an injury, registered a time of 8.35 seconds, which ranks him eighth in the nation at the Division III level.

The Bears had some solid performances from their relay teams as the 4x800 team of Trevor Siperek, Trevor Auth, James Martin, and Jordan Lee placed third with a time of 8:26.29, the 4x400 team of Kelcey Smith, Ryan Hub, Ben Hannon, and Joe Kelly finished fourth in 3:32.69 while the 4x200 team of Smith, Erick Jackson, Rian Bareuther, and Hannon were fourth with a time of 1:37.98.

Coast Guard placed eighth of the nine teams.
