Jim is in his eighth season as the head coach of the Coast Guard Academy men’s tennis team after serving as an assistant coach for five seasons.

He lead the Bears to the NEWMAC tournament championship match in 2011 and a berth in the conference semifinals in each of the last four seasons. Jim was named the NEWMAC Coach of the Year in 2009.

Hazlin is no stranger to Southeastern Connecticut as he was an assistant tennis coach at Ledyard High School for 13 years (1987-2000). The team won nine Eastern Connecticut Conference (ECC) team titles in those 13 years.

Jim, who was an electronics engineer/computer scientist at the Coast Guard Research and Development Center, also taught teen and adult tennis lessons for the Ledyard Parks and Recreation for eight years.
