NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Coast Guard men's tennis team won the third annual Bear Cup sponsored by the Bears Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
The Bear Cup is a competition for all Varsity level teams, in which cadet-athletes compete for points in various skills categories. These categories focus on developing the support of other varsity teams, community service, performance in the classroom, individual and team success, along with overall physical health.
This year the men's tennis team won with a total of 940 points. Hot on their heals was the women's swimming and diving team who had 920 points.
The Bears made it to the NEWMAC semi-finals last season and currently sit in fourth place in the conference looking to make another postseason push.
SAAC continues to set an example of holding academics along with athletics at its highest standard, and representing the Coast Guard Academy as outstanding scholar-athletes.
