Bears Fall in NEWMAC Semfinals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Top-seeded MIT, the 15-time defending New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) champions, beat fifth-seeded Coast Guard 5-0 in the NEWMAC tournament semifinals.

Coast Guard closes the season 6-11.

In a match moved indoors to the J.B. Carr Tennis Bubble due to the rain, the Engineers won the three doubles matches to start the match before winning #1 singles and #4 singles to clinch the 5-0 win. NEWMAC tournament matches are stopped once a team has clinched the victory.

Weston Fortna won the first set 6-3 and was trailing 2-0 in the second at #3 singles when the match was stopped.
