NEW LONDON, Conn.-The Coast Guard men's tennis team swept through doubles competition and won five of six singles matches to hand visiting Roger Williams a loss in non-conference action on Thursday. In the last non-conference regular season home match of the year, the Bears (4-10) rolled through their competition as they lost just four sets on the day against the Hawks (9-6).
At number four singles, freshman Weston Fortna lost his opening set 4-6, before rebounding with a 6-3 victory in set number two and pulling out the victory in the third set, 10-7.
In doubles action the combinations of Guentert and Fortna won 8-6 at number one, while the team of Bryson and Lightner won by an identical score at number three doubles. Renfrow and Maurer rounded out the doubles field, winning at number two by an impressive 8-2 margin.
