Westkott Named NEWMAC Men's Swimming Coach of the Year

BOSTON, Mass. – John Westkott has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Swimming Coach of the Year.

Westkott in his 17th season as the head coach of the men's team earns NEWMAC Coach of the Year honors for the sixth time in his career. He led the Bears to a third place finish at the NEWMAC Championships this past weekend for the fourth straight season.

The Bears posted their 14th consecutive winning season with a 7-2 record in dual meets this season.

Westkott has led the Bears to six conference championships (1999, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008), seven second place finishes and four third place finishes in his 17 seasons.

The men's team has a record of 131-38 while at the Academy a winning percentage of .775.

Coast Guard also shared the Men's Sportsmanship award with Wheaton.
