NEW LONDON, Conn. – Junior Christian Brindamour broke the pool record in the 50 freestyle, won the 100 backstroke and was part of the winning 200 medley relay team as Coast Guard won its first and only home meet of the season beating Clark 145-75.
Brindamour won the 50 free with the pool record time of 20.95 and won the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.63 for the Bears, who improve to 6-3 in dual meets this season.
Sophomore Andy Anderson broke his own school record on the 3-meter board with a six dive score of (327.80) and he also won the 1-meter event (280.20). His 3-meter score also qualified him for the NCAA regional meet.
The 200 medley relay team of Brindamour, sophomore Ben Morseth, junior Ryan Buys and freshman Carl Fuhs won with a time of 1:40.42.
Freshman Alexander Simpson won the 1,000 freestyle (10:35.95), freshman Elliot VanDeren won the 400 IM (4:23.53), freshman Londen Thomas won the 100 butterfly (54.17), senior Marco Tinari won the 100 freestyle (49.62), freshman Aaron Overheim won the 500 freestyle (4:56.77)
Freshman Cyril Kurland placed second in the 1,000 freestyle (11:12.29), Fuhs was second in the 50 freestyle (23.21), Buys was second in the 100 freestyle (50.93), freshman Zach Weeks was second in the 400 IM (4:31.41), junior Tyler Kotchman was second in the 100 butterfly (54.84) and senior Jacob Kramb was second in the 100 backstroke (58.27).
Coast Guard is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Wesleyan for the final dual meet of the season.
