#22 Coast Guard sinks Clark
WORCESTER, Mass.-Senior Nick Poehler and freshman Kyle Smith each won two individual events to lead the Coast Guard men's swimming and diving team past Clark by a score of 140-77. The win moves newly-ranked Coast Guard to 8-2 on the season while Clark falls to 2-4.
Poehler took home first place in both the 200 freestyle (1:49.56) and 500 freestyle (4:55.47) with Smith taking home first place honors in both the 1-meter (1.96) and 3-meter (167.90) diving events.
Freshman Ben Morseth was able to claim a first and second place finish with his results in the 100 backstroke (56.36) and 200 freestyle, respectively.
Also winning events for Coast Guard were sophomores Adam Hoburg (100 freestyle, 49.75), Ryan Buys (100 butterfly, 53.25), Tim Early (400 IM, 4:31.50), Christian Brindamour (50 freestyle, 21.95), and freshman Timothy Dion (1000 freestyle, 10:24.53).
Five other Bears took home second place finishes at the meet as well. Juniors Marc McAndrew (500 freestyle), Jacob Kramb (100 backstroke), Alex Dona (100 freestyle), Barrett Johannsen (100 butterfly), and Marco Tinari (400 IM) all grabbed four points apiece for Coast Guard.
Coast Guard resumes competition on Saturday, February 2nd when they travel to Middletown, Conn. to take on Wesleyan University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00.
