Sophomores Derrian Duryea and Tim Early, both members of the Coast Guard Academy swim team were featured on The Weather Channel Series "Coast Guard Florida".
On their first assignment, Duryea and Early helped to stop suspected smugglers who were trying to bring more than 100 bricks of marijuana and hash into Miami.

Duryea was the 2012 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year as placed third in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.28), fourth in the 100 breaststroke (58.66) and 12th in the 200 IM with a time of 1:57.12, the top freshman in all three events at the championship meet last year.
He was also part of the 200 medley relay team which earned All-conference honors with a second place finish setting a school-record with a time of 1:33.31.
