NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/14/11)--Coast Guard senior Johnson Knox has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Swimmer of the Week as he won pair of individual events and was a part of two winning relay teams as the Bears beat Wheaton 255-71, but were edged by NYU 149-147 on Saturday at Wheaton.
Knox won both the 100 breaststroke (1:01.12) and the 50 freestyle (22.04) while the Bears 200 medley relay team of Christian Brindamour, Derrian Duryea, Preston Strobel and Knox won with a time of 1:38.09 and the 400 freestyle relay team of Brian McGuiness, Knox, Duryea and Dan Beshoar won in 3:12.93.
Coast Guard is 2-1 on the season and the Bears will host Providence on Friday at 5 p.m.
