O'Donnell Hat Trick Trips Up Bears Against Seahawks

NEWPORT, R.I. – Three goals by senior Matthew O'Donnell led Salve Regina to the 3-0 victory over Coast Guard Wednesday evening in nonconference action.

With the loss, the Bears fall to 1-4-2 while the Seahawks stay perfect at 7-0-0.

After his hat trick, O'Donnell now has 10 points on the season behind four goals and two assists. Junior Donald Igo assisted O'Donnell's second goal for his 11thpoint of the season.

O'Donnell first goal came in the 29thminute as he fired home the unassisted tally giving Salve Regina the early 1-0 lead.

Six minutes late the Seahawks found the second as O'Donnell took a pass from Igo and deposited it in the back of the net for the 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

O'Donnell finished off his hat trick in the final two minutes of the game as her fired home a penalty giving Salve Regina the 3-0 win.

Senior William Bragaw (0-2-0) made a season high seven saves on 10 shots on goal.

Senior Michael Payan (7-0-0) registered his fifth shutout of the season with four saves.

Coast Guard is back in action on Saturday, September 22nd, when they host the Emerson Lions in NEWMAC action. Opening kickoff is 2:00.
