GORHAM, Maine – The Coast Guard men's soccer team earned their first result of the season tying University of Southern Maine 1-1 Saturday evening.
The Bears record moves to 0-1-1 on the season while the Huskies are now 0-1-1.
Scoring for Southern Maine was sophomore Benjamin Musese and classmate Jonata Mbongo had the team's lone assist.
Coast Guard wasted little time scoring the first goal of the game as Parsons and Taglianetti combined to find Pagatpatan in the 13thminute of the game which proved to be the game winner.
The Huskies tied the game in dramatic fashion as Mbongo hit Muesue with a pass who fired it home in the 90thminute sending the game to overtime.
Neither team could find a game winner in either overtime period as the two teams end the weekend with their first tie of the season.
Senior William Bragaw (0-0-1) allowed the late goal making five saves on six shots on goal.
Senior Charlie Mull (0-1-1) made one save on two shots on goal, allowing the lone goal. Senior Simon Hulbert entered late in the second half, making three saves on three shots on goal.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday, September 5th, when they travel to Johnson & Wales for a 7:00 pm start.
