SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – In their first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game of the season, Coast Guard fell to Springfield 3-0.
With the loss, the Bears fall to 3-2 on the season and 0-1 in conference play while the Pride continue their undefeated start to the season at 5-0 and begin the year 1-0 in the NEWMAC.
The Pride wasted little time getting on the board as senior Danny Murphy found senior Harry Davis with a pass in the third minute of the game and Murphy put it away for his first goal of the season giving Springfield the early advantage.
Midway through the first half the Pride netted their second goal of the game as junior Christian Schneider connected with junior Keon Haji who netted his first goal of the season for the 2-0 lead going into the second half.
Murphy set up Springfield's final goal of the game in the 57th minute for his second assist as his pass found junior Brad Deckel for his sixth goal of the season and making the score 3-0.
Senior Jake Sorenson (3-1) took his first loss of the season allowing three goals on four shots on goal and making one save.
Junior Stewart Frank (5-0) notched his third shutout of the season making four saves on four shots on goal.
Coast Guard is back in action on Tuesday, September 19th, when they host Salve Regina in non-conference action. Opening kickoff is 6:00.
