DANBURY, CT - Coast Guard earned their fourth win of the season as they prevailed 2-1 over Western Connecticut in non-league action at The Westside Athletic Complex on Tuesday night.
Coast Guard, now 4-0-1 on the season, took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when senior Alex Lane blasted a shot off a set piece just outside of the box, into the top right corner of the goal for his third goal of the season. The uncontested attempt came following a sliding tackle from junior Shane Bierfeldt.
Allers, the Colonials leading scorer, tallied his third goal of the with 57 seconds remaining on the game clock. Allers was set up by freshman midfielder David Silva.
In his first collegiate start, freshman Dakota Harich (1-0) earned the victory in goal for the Academy, registering four saves while withstanding 14 attempts by the Colonials.
Freshman Felix Escobar (0-1) suffered the loss. He made seven saves on the night.
Coast Guard opens New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action with a road game against the Babson Beavers. Kick off is 11:30 am.
