Burns Named NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week

NEW LONDON, Conn.—Coast Guard Academy sophomore goalkeeper Richie Burns has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Burns registered a shutout in a 2-0 win over WPI in his only game of the week. He made four saves including an outstanding save midway through the first half to keep the game scoreless.
Coast Guard is 2-0 in the NEWMAC for the first time and the Bears are 4-3 overall.
Burns has been outstanding for the Bears this season as he has a 4-1 record with two shutouts and a 0.58 goals against average.
The Bears host Mass. Maritime in non-conference game on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
