Bears Fall 2-1 at Conn. College

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/22/11)--Andrew Lee and Graham Christrensen scored first half goals to lead Connecticut College to a 2-1 victory against the Coast Guard in front of 1,200 fans on Tempel Green.

Connecticut College improves to 8-4-1 with the win, while the Bears slip to 4-9-1 with the setback. Coast Guard has dropped seven straight, five of them by one goal.

Connecticut College leads the all-time series 22-10-2 in the longstanding rivalry of Whaling City rivals.

With 2:38 remaining in the first half, the Camels gained a 2-1 advantage when Christensen deposited a header into the back of the net. Dillon Kerr and Ryland Hormel on the goal that proved to be the difference in the contest.

The two teams converted penalty kicks in the opening half. Andrew Lee buried a line drive inside the left post in the 27th minute of action but Greg Kennerley countered with a penalty kick for the Bears in the 31st minute of play.

Sophomore net-minder Max Nichols stopped two shots in the win for the Camels and remains perfect with a 3-0 record this fall. Will Leffler finished with five stops in the setback for the Bears.

Connecticut College held an 18-to-9 advantage in shots and enjoyed a 7-to-4 edge in corner kicks.
