Bears Improve to 2-0; Beat Johnson & Wales

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/7/11)--Senior Brett Godiksen scored a goal and assisted on another leading Coast Guard to a 3-0 win over Johnson & Wales in a non-conference game.

Godiksen scored in the 20th minute to open the scoring, the Bears would lead 1-0 at halftime.

Sophomore Robert Copeland tallied his first career goal with Godiksen assisting in the 60th minute to give the Bears a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore John Epperly closed the scoring in the 76th minute with classmate Joe Bodzewski registering his first career assist.

Coast Guard improves to 2-0 on the season. The Bears won their second straight game to start the season for the sixth time in the past seven seasons.

Freshman Richard Burns registered a shutout by making just two saves in his collegiate debut. Burns best save of the night came in the 70th minute as he made a sprawling save on a shot by senior Adam Shafer.

The Bears outshot Johnson & Wales 24-6 including 20-2 in the second half.

Junior Anthony Sitek made six saves in the losing effort for the Wildcats, who drop to 0-3 on the season.
