NEW LONDON, Conn.-Two Coast Guard cadet-athletes have been named to the 2014 Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association Division II All-America Team. Senior Eric Schmid and junior Nick Chicoine were honored on the third team and honorable mention All-America team, respectively.
Schmid, who was recognized as a third team attack man, finished the season with a team-best 53 goals to go along with 18 assists for a club-leading 71 points. After averaging 4.73 points per game this season, he'll wrap up his career with totals of 115 goals, 56 assists, and 171 points.
Chicoine earned honorable mention status as a face-off specialist after going 227-for-316 in face-offs for a draw winning percentage of 71.8%.
The Coast Guard lacrosse team wrapped up the season with an 11-6 record, making an appearance in their second straight National Tournament. Next year the team will complete the transition to varsity status where they will compete as a member of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
