Men’s Lacrosse Rallies Past Stonehill

EASTON, Mass.-The Coast Guard lacrosse team - sans several starters - found themselves trailing Stonehill College 5-0 midway through the second quarter on Sunday afternoon before rallying for a thrilling 8-7 victory over the home standing Skyhawks.

With the victory the Bears improve to 5-3 on the season with four games remaining until the post-season.

After heading into the halftime break trailing by a 5-2 margin, the Bears came out firing on all cylinders to open the second half scoring four of the game's five third period goals to tie things up at 6-6. Coast Guard would double up the Skyhawks, 2-1, in the fourth quarter to complete the come-from-behind 8-7 victory over Stonehill.

Juniors John Tarzian and Pat Dreiss each had a pair of goals to lead the Bears while senior Eric Schmid (1 goal, 2 assists) recorded a three point day to help lead the Coast Guard rally.

Freshman Matt McAllister made his first start in goal, recording seven saves and picking up the victory in the process.

Junior Nick Chicoine was 14-for-18 on face-offs for the day, moving his season face-off winning percentage to 77.4 percent (127-164).

Coast Guard will return to action on Tuesday, April 15th when they host the University of Rhode Island at 6:00 pm.
