CGA Men’s Crews race Tough in Worcester

WORCESTER, Mass. -- While the CGA women raced in the NEWMAC Championships the men took to the water to race for the McCarthy/McGee Cup against WPI, Boston College, and UMass Amherst.

Both the first varsity and the second varsity had excellent starts and were right in the thick of the racing for the first ½ of the race, but were unable to maintain the pace with the other crews.  Alexis Laskowski, the coxswain for the first eight, noted, "The first 1000 was solid. Best technique we've rowed in a race and the intensity was there."

The third eight did not have a good start and tried to play catch up for the rest of the race.  Racing 2000 meters when you are unable to see your competition is very difficult, but they raced with heart.

All three men's boats will be back in action next weekends at the New England Rowing Championships in Worcester on May 5th.  We hope to see all our supporters at our tent along the banks of Lake Quinsigamond.
