Bears Competes Against Tufts and Hamilton

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Coast Guard men's rowing team competed against both Tufts and Hamilton this past weekend falling to both schools in their second race of the spring season.

In the first varsity 8 race the Bears finished in 6:18.6, but were clipped by Tufts who crossed the line in 6:05.6.

In the second varsity 8 race against Hamilton Coast Guard substituted freshman Josh Brown and freshman Zach Brigham.  This was the first race for both Josh and Zach at 2000 meters and with the substitutions there were six freshmen in the varsity boat including four walk-on novices.

The Bears (6:38.8) were topped by Hamilton (6:08.8) but the young Coast Guard team continues to improve and gain valuable experience for the future.

The Bear's are back in action on April 9th when they travel to UMass Lowell for races against the host and Colby.
