Bears Compete at Head of the Riverfront

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Coast Guard Academy men and women competed at the Head of the Riverfront on Sunday.

The men's Varsity 8 placed second to Trinity cross the line in 15:00.99. The novice 8 was also second in 16:17.22 while the men's novice 4 was second in 16:28.61.

There was a strong headwind and strong current from all the recent rain that made the conditions challenging, but the rowers performed well. The highlights for CGA men's crew was the novices getting their first opportunity to race (everyone in the boat started rowing just six weeks ago) and just missing the gold in the open 4 - losing to Trinity by .82 second after over 16 minutes of racing.
