NEW LONDON, Conn. – Junior Brandon Johnson led four Babson players in double figures with 17 points to go with his team-high six rebounds as the Beavers beat Coast Guard 91-64 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
Senior Nick Comenale and freshman Andrew Jaworski each added 14 points while senior Bradley Jacks added 10 points including the 1,000th of his career as he finished the game with 1,000 points.
The Beavers shot 53.8 percent in the win (35-65) and connected on 12 of 32 from 3-point range. Coast Guard was 25 of 58 (43.1 percent) and hit 5 of 17 from behind the arc.
Babson improved to 11-8 overall and 6-2 in the NEWMAC while the Bears drop to 9-8 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
Sophomore Packy Witkowski had a game-high 23 points to lead Coast Guard while sophomores Jason Frazer (11) and Justin Kane (10) both finished in double figures for the Bears. Sophomore Noah Baldez and Kane led Coast Guard with six rebounds each.
Babson scored the final 11 points of the first half to take a 47-31 lead into the break as the Beavers shot 60.6 percent in the half (20-33) while making 6 of 13 from 3-point range.
The Beavers would use an 11-2 run in the second half to open their largest lead of the game 84-54 with 5:29 left.
Coast Guard is back in action on Wednesday at Springfield in a NEWMAC game at 7:30
