NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard senior punter Chip Crowley has been named to the 2018 New England Football Writers College Division II/III All-New England Team.
Crowley, a first team All-NEWMAC selection this season, led the NEWMAC and is tied for 7th nationally averaging 40.6 yards per punt. He had eight inside the 20 with a long of 69 yards.
Coast Guard won more than five games for the first time since 2007, finishing the season 7-3 overall and 5-2 in a second place tie in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) and won the Secretaries' Cup with a 26-12 win at Merchant Marine to end the season.
The Division II Northeast-10 Conference and Division III the Massachusetts State College Athletics Conference led the way with six selections each. The Commonwealth Coast Conference, the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference and the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference each had five picks. The New England Small College Athletic Conference finished with four honorees.
The team will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 6, at Rosaria Restaurant and Function Facility in Saugus, Mass.
