WORCESTER, Mass. – Clark jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the second inning and beat Coast Guard 16-1 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic (NEWMAC) game.
Clark improves to 20-9, 11-4 in the NEWMAC and clinches the Western Division Championship while the Bears drop to 8-17 overall and 2-12 in conference play.
Dustin Reeder (0-5) took the loss for the Bears.
Walter Harris pitched well in relief going 5 1/3 innings and allowed just three hits and an earned run while walking one and striking out three.
Jake Behne had two hits including a double and drove in the only Coast Guard run while Alex Murdoch also had a pair of hits for the Bears.
Coast Guard will host Clark in a doubleheader on Saturday at noon to complete the three-game series.
The Bears will host Mitchell on Sunday at noon, a game that was originally scheduled for Apr. 24th, but had to be moved due to a conference make up.
