BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Sophomore Michael Genaro had a no-hitter for 8 1/3 innings and fired a one-hitter while striking out four leading Babson to an 8-0 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Babson improves to 8-7 overall and 2-1 in the NEWMAC while the Bears drop to 8-12 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Junior Alex Murdoch's one-out infield single to third base in the ninth was the only hit for the Bears while sophomore Jeremy Lhotka reached on a throwing error to lead off the sixth as Genaro (2-0) faced just two batters over the minimum.

Senior Jake Weiss' RBI single in the first got the Beavers on the board before they added an unearned run for a 2-0 lead after one inning.

Babson added an RBI single by senior Jack Halpin in the sixth before blowing the game open with five runs in the seventh to take an 8-0 lead. Freshman Sean Harrington's two-run double highlighted the inning giving the Beavers a 6-0 lead.

Senior Colton Cannon (1-1) took the loss allowing two runs in the first. He would pitch two innings allowing two hits and two runs, one earned.

Senior Luke Sniatkowski threw three hitless innings in relief of Cannon while striking out two to keep the Bears in the game.

Coast Guard is back in action on Friday when the Bears play a NEWMAC game, the first of a three-game series at Springfield at 3:30.
