NEW LONDON, Conn. - Coast Guard won their seventh game of the season, topping Albertus Magnus 12-4 in non-conference action Thursday afternoon at Nitchman Field.
With the win the Bears improve to 7-11 while the Falcons drop to 3-11.
Freshman Josh Nguyen-Domingo went 3-4 with two doubles, three RBI's and three runs scored. Freshman Kyle Moore went 2-2 with a triple and two RBI's while sophomores Reed Jenkins and Jake Behne each had two RBI's.
For Albertus Magnus sophomore Derwn Nunez went 1-3 with a triple, a run scored and an RBI. Freshman Brandon Clark was 1-3 with a double and an RBI while sophomore Roberto Garcia had a double and a run scored.
The Falcons got two runs back in the top of the third as Garcia scored on an error by the shortstop followed by Clark doubling to left center plating freshman Hunter Dumas.
The Bears controlled the rest of the game outscoring the Falcons 8-2 snapping a six game losing streak for the 12-4 win.
Seven Coast Guard pitchers combined to allow three hits and two earned runs over nine innings of work. Sophomore Jack Brandt (1-0) took the win for the Bear pitching the fifth allowing no runs and no hits, striking out one.
Sophomore Daunte Brinkley (0-2) takes the loss pitching two and a third innings allowing five runs on five hits walking two and striking out none. Five Albertus Magnus combined to pitch the rest of the game allowing 10 hits, six earned runs and striking out eight.
Coast Guard is back in action on Saturday, April 1st, when they jump back into NEWMAC play with a double header against the Emerson Lions. First pitch is 12:00.
