Dan is in his 20th year at the Coast Guard Academy, his eighth as Department Head of Health and Physical Education and third as Associate Athletic Director. He earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Connecticut.
Rose spent his first 15 years as the head coach of both the men’s and women’s track teams at the Coast Guard Academy earning 2006 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Coach of the Year and the 2008 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association New England Region Outdoor Track Coach of the Year honors as the Bears were undefeated in both the indoor and outdoor season.
During his tenure, the men’s and women’s teams produced a combined 16 Division III All-Americans and 27 Division III New England Champions. He coached five Division III New England Champions in the decathlon, including Steve Blum, the only athlete in the history of the meet to win three multi-event championships.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and a Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration from Springfield College where he threw both the shot put and discus and served as team captain during his senior season.
Rose served as the President of the New England Division III Track and Field Coaches Association from 2003-’07.
