Colin Regan begins his first season as men's rowing coach at the Coast Guard Academy. He replaces Mike Shugrue, who served as the interim coach last season.
Regan spent the last six seasons as an assistant men's coach at Williams College while also serving as the head coach at Penn A.C. for the past three summers.
While at Williams, the Ephs were the overall team champions at
the New England Division III Rowing Championships in 2009 and 2012.
The Varsity 8 won four straight New England Championships from
2009-2012, and went undefeated in the 2012 season. Williams was
named the ECAC Rowing Program of the Year in both 2011 and 2012
capturing the team championship in 2012.
The Ephs made 23 finals and won or medaled 20 times at the New England Championship and ECAC Regatta and won the Head of the Charles three times.
He was primarly responsible for preparing the first year rowers to succeed at the varsity level and his Freshman/Novice 8 were New England Champions in 2012.
At the Penn A.C. Rowing Association, the crews made 16 finals and won or medaled nine times at the USRowing Club National Championships and qualified for ten grand finals with seven crews finishing in the top three and two winning gold at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta.
Prior to coaching at Williams, Regan was the head men's coach at Shrewsbury High School in Massachusetts rom 2006-2008 and served as the head coach of the UConn men's crew program from the Fall of 2003 - Spring of 2005.
