TOP MOMENT #3 - ROWE, PIKER COMPETE AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Freshman Taylor Rowe and Junior Caitlin Piker both competed at the NCAA National Championships this past year as individuals, representing their respective sport.
Rowe competed at Nationals in his first year of eligibility and earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 1,650 freestyle with a 16th place finish (15:58.53).
Rowe placed second at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships in both the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:33.49 and the 1,650 freestyle touching the wall in 15:48.11 to earn All-conference honors in both events.
He also broke the school record in the 1,000 freestyle over the first 1,000 yards of the 1,650 with a mark of 9:30.12 breaking the record of All-American Bobby Brown.
Piker placed 12th of the 22 competitors in the javelin at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships.
Piker, making her first NCAA appearance had a throw of 133 feet, 9.5 inches in her first attempt which was her best of the day.
She had the 18th best throw in the javelin in Division III this season with a school-record distance of 135 feet, seven inches, which she did at the New England Open Championships to earn All-New England honors with and eighth place finish as well as a spot at the NCAA Championship.
She earned All-NEWMAC honors with a second place finish with a toss of 121 feet, three inches and also earned Division III All-New England honors as she placed fourth with a throw of 129 feet, three inches.
