 Kevin Higgins had three hits in the loss.
Coast Guard (6-15) took a 2-0 lead in the third on an by single by Ken Franklin and a sacrifice fly by Brian Yurovich.
Kevin Thomas, the Coast Guard starter, allowed just two hits thru the first five innings, but ran into trouble in the sixth as the Bucs scored five runs on four hits and a pair of walks.
Andrew Saari got Mass. Maritime on the board with an RBI single before Ross Hickey’s two-run double gave the Bucs a 3-2 lead. Anthony Barrett’s two-run single chased Thomas and pushed the lead to 5-2.
The Bears got a run back in the seventh, to make it a 5-3 game, on an RBI single by Kevin Higgins scoring Adam Reckley, who led off the inning with a single, but reliever Nick Levitre got Keith Laird to hit into a double play with the bases loaded to get out of the inning.
Mass. Maritime (13-6) got some insurance runs in the ninth on a two-run home run by Tyler Spofford, his first of the season.
Spofford led the Buccaneers with three hits while Hickey had a pair of doubles and Barrett also had two hits for Mass. Maritime.
Higgins led the Bears with three hits while Christian George had two hits including a triple.
Moreschi (3-1) picked up the win as he worked six innings and allowed five hits, two unearned runs while walking five and striking out three. Levitre worked the final three innings and allowed four hits and an earned run while walking one and striking out two to pick up his first collegiate save.
Thomas (2-3) took the loss. He went 5 2/3 innings allowing six hits, five runs, all earned while walking four and striking out two. Jesse Karr pitched well in relief allowing three hits and the two runs on the homer over 3 1/3 innings while striking out two.
