New London, CT--(3/23/08)--The Coast Guard Academy Women’s Sailing Team won the Women’s Invite, a combined division event, on their home waters this past weekend. In A-Division, Krysta Rohde ’11 and Kirstin Haas ’10 dominated the competition finishing 1st overall and 1st in their division with 33 points, 16 points better than the second place finished, Roger Williams. In B-Division, Jenn Proctor ’11 and Linden Dahlkemper ’08 finished 3rd overall and 1st in their division with 51 points. They beat their next B-Division competitor by 28 points. Next weekend, the team will travel to Brown for the Brad Dellenbaugh Women’s Intersectional to compete against the top women’s teams in the country.
The Co-Ed Team also had success this weekend. At the Owen Trophy, hosted by Yale, the team finished 8th out of 16 teams. Sailing for the bears was Sam Ingham ’11, Chris Grabe ’10 and Will Cotta ’11 in A-Division and Jon Duffett ’11 and Nicole Bredariol ’09 in B-Division. At the Boston Dinghy Club Cup, a 3-division intersectional, the team finished 13th out of 18 teams. Competing for the Bears was Noel Shriner ’08, Abbey LaFond ’08, Jason Hill ’08, Kevin Kuhn ’08, Jenn Hom ’09, Adam Frye ’08, and Emily Kehrt ’09. The team also finished 8th out of 13 teams at the Southern Series hosted by Salve Regina University. Sailing at the Southern Series was Ian Oviatt ’10, Margaret Woodbridge ’10, Geoff Single ’10, and Elise Maher ’11.
