 Bobby Brown closed out his brillant career with two more All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Championships. OXFORD, OHIO--(3/22/08)--Bobby Brown, the most decorated athlete in Coast Guard Academy history, can now be known as seven-time All-America Bobby Brown as the senior earned All-America honors in two events at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at Wooster College.
Brown, who had earned five All-America honors entering this year's championship, placed sixth in the 1,650 freestyle (15:43.37) and eighth in the 200 freestyle event (1:41).
He was three-time All-America as a freshman as placed second in the 1,650 freestyle (15:43.21) and sixth in both the 200 freestyle (1:41.82) and the 500 freestyle (4:35.82). Two years ago as a sophomore, Brown earned All-America honors with a seventh place finish in the 1,650 freestyle (15:50.47) and an eighth place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:42.04).
Coast Guard also had three relay teams earn honorable mention All-America honors (9th-16th place finish).
The 400 medley relay team of Tim Berry, Jack Sauve, Doug Fallon and Jim Okorn placed 13th (3:27.68) while Brown, Okorn, Dale Cressman and Jack Shadwick earn honorable mention honors in both the 400 freestyle relay with a 14th place finish (3:06.46) and a 16th place finish in the 800 freestyle relay (6:56.67).
The Bears had four relay teams earn honorable mention All-America honors last season, the first time in 10 years, that the relay teams scored points.
Shadwick and Okorn swam on all four of those relay teams (200 medley, 200 free, 400 free, 800 free) last season while Cressman was on three of them.
