Coast Guard sent five shooters to Nationals this season. Despite the loss of some excellent shooters to graduation this past year, the United States Coast Guard Academy Pistol team has experienced an inspiring and exceptional season. With a returning member 2/c Rabii Boughdiri and led by captains 1/c Eric Eng and 2/c Brian Howard, the senior members had plenty of obstacles including teaching the new members as well as personally setting higher standard for themselves. The newcomers this season not only had large shoes to fill but in addition high expectations to achieve. Yet, with a primarily junior and inexperienced team the Coast Guard Academy was able to send five shooters 1/c Eric Eng, 2/c Rabii Boughdiri, 2/c Mike Langelier, 2/c Alyssa McDonald and 4/c Joshua Schwartz to nationals to compete on a free, standard , and air team. 1/c Eric Eng and 4/c Joshua Schwartz should also be congratulated for receiving personal invites to nationals in the events of free and standard. At nationals there were outstanding finishes by 1/c Eric Eng in standard taking 19th and 18th in free, 4/c Joshua Schwartz taking 31st in free, 2/c Mike Langelier taking 25th in standard and 2/c Alyssa McDonald taking 40th in air.
As we look ahead to next season with the newly elected co-captains 2/c Alyssa McDonald and 2/c Mike Langelier, we must unfortunately say goodbye to 2/c Brian Howard who will be training for the Boston Marathon and 1/c Eric Eng to commencement. Thank you both for your time, experience, and unyielding patience this past season. Eric may you enter the fleet with fair weather, following seas, and always remember Semper Pistol.
